Normally, our oral cavity is populated by different kinds of bacteria that are easily handled by our immune system, as long as they do not spread excessively. If dental hygiene is neglected sticky plaques are created by the body and bacteria can limitlessly proper in these. Through the formation of bacterial toxin an infection of the gums (Gingivitis) is inevitable. This usually shows through proneness to bleedings when brushing the teeth. Since this affection is usually chronic and causes little pain, people often fail to identify its early symptoms. When Gingivitis is not fought, it can attack the tooth roots and the sustaining jawbone, causing its depletion. The first consequence are gingival crevices and later bone crevices, which may have calculus-like stains aggravating the inflammation.
